As Paul Gosse and Janet Morrissey pointed out, the Gladiolas version was a flop on the pop charts. Does anyone know how well the Gladiolas version did on the R&B charts?] [I realized after I posted this, that the third line should be: 'That all is so grand', but I don't think anyone was confused about the song. A couple of people also noticed this error] I woke up this morning with a feeling of despair, Looking for my baby and she wasn't there #07) El Dorados: "At My Front Door", 1955 I don't know her name, She's the fisherman's daughter #08) Every Mothers' Son: "Come On Down To My Boat", 1967 You are the flower beneath my window sill, You're everything beautiful, everything that's real #09) Flaming Ember: "Mind, Body, and Soul", 1969 [Paul Gosse and Janet Morrissey were the only ones to identify this song correctly. This is my last GOLQ (at least for a long while). However, all you oldies fans, don't despair: Howard Teitelbaum has volunteered to keep the oldies alive by continuing this series from #10 through #13 and Ron Crandall will take over after that... It's been an interesting experience for me to run these past several quizzes. And it'll be fun for me to go back to playing mode! I enjoyed "meeting" everyone who participated, and exchanging oldies trivia with some of you. I'd still be happy continue discuss oldies trivia with anyone who cares to! -- Barry Silk (bcs@PRC.Unisys.COM)
