RESULTS and ANSWER KEY for GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #147 Congratulations to THE DELPHI TRIVIA CLUB for their first place finish. tied for first place. Three teams tied for second with 500 scores: JAMIE LUBIN (the highest solo entrant), THE COASTERS and REALLY ROCKIN' IN BOSTON. Eight other teams were able to score 400 or more. The average score was 341. All songs, except for #T2, were identified by at least 5 teams. Only one team, THE GYPSY'S CARAVAN, came up with #T2. This quiz contained a major theme. As a tribute to one of my favorite artists of the 1960s, the first letter of each song title, in order, spelled out "Brian Wilson Beach Boys Harmony". 20 teams were able to figure it out. Hope everyone had fun. Thanks everyone for your participation! Barry Chamish from Team Asia has already posted GOLQ148. -- Barry Silk _____________________________________________________________________________ After each score below are two characters representing the two tie-breakers: A "+" indicates a tie-breaker answered correctly; a "-" indicates partial credit; an "x" indicates a totally incorrect guess; a "." indicates no guess. One account (perhaps fanciful) says that Pomus, who had used crutches/wheelchairs since contracting polio in childhood, was inspired to write the song while watching his wife dancing with a number of able-bodied men at a party. TO: Bubble-gum cover by the DeFrancco family in the 70s. CO: Ben E. King lead. I can see there ain't no room for me You're only holding out your heart in sympathy If there's another man Then girl I understand #10) 4 Seasons Featuring the "sound" of Frankie Valli: "Opus 17 (Don't You Worry 'Bout Me)" (1966) [13] {-} Well, I never gargled I never gambled I never smoked at all Until I met my two good amigos #11) Rolf Harris: "Nick Teen And Al K. Well, HT provides the answer: HT: No, writers Isaac Hayes and David Porter were not clairvoyant, and thus are not referencing the Woodstock music festival that lay 2 years in the future; the "Woodstock" cited here is a school in Memphis. Porter is not to be confused with the late David Prater (the "Dave" of the singing duo). JR: Also recorded by John Belushi (may he rest in peace) and Dan Aykroyd for their movie 'The Blues Brothers'. I named our two computer terminals at work after these guys (Sam & Dave, not Elwood & Jake).
