RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #201 (GOLQ201)
Congratulations to the Across the Boarder team (Mick Tursky and Jean O'Shea)
who scored a perfect 500 on the regular part of the quiz, and to the team of
Barry Silk and Jenny McCaw, who came in a close second with 490 points.
After that there was a drop to 400 points for third place, indicating that
this quiz was more difficult than we had anticipated. Nevertheless, other
than two songs there identified only by the top 2 teams and the two
tie-breakers, all songs were identified by at least 5 teams.
The average score was 304.0, and the median was 318.0.
Our thanks to everyone who participated.

[T1 is one of the strangest songs for titles in R&B history. This might just
be the song that has had more titles than any other song with the same tune
and lyrics. This was written and first recorded by Dave Bartholomew as
"My Ding-a-ling" for King records out of Cincinnati in 1952. He then
rerecorded it at a faster speed in 1953 for Imperial records as
"Little Girl Sing Ting-a-ling". This was version was one of the flips to
Imperial 5210, "Who Drank The Beer While I Was In The Rear". This was the
rarer flip for that title. In 1954 it was recorded by the Bees for Imperial
records as "Toy Bell". Then Chuck Berry recorded it and had a number 1 hit
with it in 1972 as "My Ding-a-ling", with which he wrongly took writers
credit. The version Norm used was the Imperial speeded up version from his
fairly beat-up original 45.
