Corrected RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #208 (GOLQ208)

Congratulations to the Across the Boarder team, who finished first by
identifying all 25 regular songs (and were only one of two teams to score
on the tie-breakers). Outstanding scores were achieved by the team of
Randy Price and Peter Morley, missing only 1 regular song, and the Really
Rockin' In Boston team, who missed only 2 regular songs.

The average score was 293.1, and the median was 273.5.

Our thanks to everyone who participated.

Tom Pillion will be posting GOLQ209, probably early next week.

Thanks to all who entered!

of the two of them offering anecdotes about their lives & careers, and singing
a few dozen of their compositions.]

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ208/GOLQ208-16.mp3
#16) Mills, Garry: "Look For A Star - Part I" (1960) [26] {-}

[This was the original version of this song from the movie "Circus Of Horrors."
Three cover versions of this song entered the charts on the same date as this
version did. The most successful of the 4 was by James "Buzz" Cason recording
under the name Garry Miles. Norm's original clip of this song was from a
portion of the song that was essentially indistinguishable from the
corresponding portion of the version by Garry Miles. The clip used is from
a portion that is quite distinguishable from that of Garry Miles. All 4 of
the teams that identified this song correctly identified the artist.]

Tie-Breakers

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ208/GOLQ208-T1.mp3
#T1) Burnett, Carol: "Puppy Love" (1957) [-] {-}

[We had been hoping that someone would recognize her voice on this song,
even if they hadn't heard the song before. The Across the Boarder team
and The EJ'S & Co. both identified her correctly but guessed the wrong
title. The Across the Boarder team actually guessed the more well-known
flipside of this record, "I Made A Fool Of Myself Over John Foster Dulles,"
while The EJ'S & Co. guessed at the title and came close with "Animal Love."]

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ208/GOLQ208-T2.mp3
#T2) Hickman, Dwayne: "School Dance" (1958) [-] {-}

[This song was #48 on the CHUM Radio (Toronto, Canada) charts on
April 28, 1958. This was released a year before he played Dobie Gillis on
"The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis," although he begin acting in 1942 at
age 8 (according to http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0382722/).

The quiz intro stated that the two tie-breakers are related by a mini-theme.
Besides the obvious connection that these are semi-obscure recordings by
people who would later become well known as TV stars, both of
these records were released on the ABC label, and the first major TV show
for each of them was on CBS.]

=============================================================================

This chart ranks the songs/artists from most to least recognized. The second
number on the line denotes the average number of points scored on that song
(total points divided by number of entrants, to 2 decimal places). For
comparison purposes, tie-breakers are scored here on the usual 20-point scale.
