RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #278 (GOLQ278)

There was a five-way tie for first. Congratulations to The GenaTeam,
Will McCorry, The Village Idiots, The Gypsy's Caravan, and Delphi
Trivia Club who are this months co-champions.

My grand plan to have the first tiebreaker create separation at the
top didn't pan out as it was obviously a little too obscure.

The Coasters and Really Rockin' In Boston also had perfect 500 scores.
The EJ'S & Co. and the Don Albright, Frank Glaz team each missed
only one regular song.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter.

The median score was 478, the mean 451.

Howard Teitelbaum will be posting GOLQ279 soon.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #278 ANSWERS:

Answers are in the form:
#number) Artist: Title (year[s]) [peak position on Pop chart] {peak R&B}

[-] = did not make pop chart
{-}   = did not make R&B chart
{F}   = made R&B chart as a flip side
{n/c} = no Billboard R&B chart published during this recording's period
        of peak popularity
=============================================================================

We will fly you and I

If you're tying both of my hands
#10) Aretha Franklin: "Ain't No Way" (1968) [16] {9}

     As Die, Monster, Die! mentions, this is one of those
     great soul ballads oldies radio never seems to play.

You would cry too
If it happened to you
#11) Lesley Gore: "It's My Party" (1963) [1] {1}

     Die, Monster, Die! says Gore is one of the multiple stars

Or in New York
In gay Paris
Or even London town
#16) The McGuire Sisters:"Around The World In Eighty Days" (1957) [73] {-}

     I chose not to deduct for "Around The World" as the title.
     Of the many recorded versions, this seems to be the
     prevalent one.

Your great big lonely eyes give you away
Hey hey hey
Hey hey heeyy

     Vito & the Salutations reports in their team identifier:
     "The usual, plus an original member of The Pixies Three,
     personally known to one Vito, who confirmed our answer
     to #19.".

     This was a tough one but I couldn't come up with a longer
     snippet without giving the title away. You can find this
     long forgotten country crossover hit on a Youtube
     "Johnny Cash Show" medley.

And you make me cry
But if you leave me
I will surely die
