RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #288 (GOLQ288)

The Coasters and Gypsy's Caravan tied for first place by correctly answering
all 27 songs on the quiz. Pefect 500 scores were also registered by the Lehigh
Valley (Pa.) Trivia Group, Delphi Trivia Club, Mike Weaver and Will McCorry.

All songs (except T1) can currently be found on Youtube.

As Howard Teitelbaum comments, on "clips quizzes" some otherwise obscure
songs become much easier because the voice of the artist is recognized or
at least hauntingly familiar.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter.

The median score was 480, the mean 463.

Rich Ardini has just posted GOLQ289.

#T1) Brewer and Shipley: "Lady Like You" (1969) [-] {-}

  This is the first track from the LP WEEDS. Brewer and Shipley started
  writing songs together while they worked at Good Sam Music (A&M Records).
  Their song "One Toke Over The Line" hit #10 on the U.S. pop charts in 1971.

  They also managed to make it on to Richard Nixon's "enemies list".

  I had figured the reference to "Big Pink" would be a bit of a hint.
  He is undoubtedly referring to MUSIC FROM BIG PINK, which was the 1968
  LP by The Band. This narrows the time frame considerably.

Tossin' and turnin'
In my slumber
(Oh baby oh)
Holding you it seems
(Oh baby)
I give you kisses without number
#T2) The Four Knights: "I Get So Lonely (When I Dream About You)"
                                                               (1954) [2] {-}

  It was also recorded as "(Oh Baby Mine) I Get So Lonely" and other titles.
  Pat Ballard wrote the song. The Four Knights version charted for 24 weeks
  and also reached #5 on The U.K. charts.

  The Four Knights started out in 1943 as the Southland Jubilee Singers in
  North Carolina. They didn't disband until 1966.

  The source I used was "American Singing Groups", written by Jay Warner.

  Gypsy's Caravan reports Pat ballard wrote "Mr. Sandman" and around fifty
  university fight songs, including GC member Wayne's alma mater, The
  University Of Akron.

number on the line denotes the average number of points scored on that song
(total points divided by number of entrants, to 1 decimal place). For
comparison purposes, tie-breakers are scored here on the usual 20-point scale.
