#T2) McGuire Sisters, The: "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight" (1954) [8] {-}
Note: I felt a bit sacrilegious using this cover version of the great Spaniels
original, but I wanted to avoid having to give credit for multiple cover
artists. So, I chose this version for two reasons: 1) It uses lyrics tailored
for a female artist, which distinguishes this version from that of any male
artists, Spaniels included; and, 2) The McGuire Sisters actually had the
highest charted version on the Billboard pop chart, at #8. Spaniels version
made it only to #24 on the R&B chart. Ironically, I learned that Sunny Gale
also had a female version, though her lyrics for this bridge differ from that
of the McGuires.
