RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #375 (GOLQ375)

Congratulations to the Delphi Trivia Club and Village Idiots, who tied for first
with perfect scores. Other teams who came close were DEC & Friends, EJ's & Co.,
Will McCorry, and Vito & The Salutations. The themes were baseball and spring,
with most teams identifying them. The average score was 366.4, this first quiz
appeared to be not too hard, not too easy, I consider it a success.

Thanks to everyone who entered. This wasn't quite the 40 entries I received for
my very first quiz 20-odd years ago, but I believe 12 of the entries were active
in GOLQ when I first entered a GOLQ quiz back in 1996. GOLQ #376 has been
posted, see you in a few months.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #375 ANSWERS:
Answers are in the form:

#number) Artist: "Title" (chart year) [peak Pop] {peak R&B} <xxx>...<yyy>
where:
"peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart.
"peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart.
(Billboard didn't publish an R&B chart between 11/30/63 and 1/23/65,
so recordings in that interval show peak R&B of {n/c} ("no chart").)
"xxx",...,"yyy" = prior GOLQ(s) in which the song appeared, if any.

several: co-written by Paul Simon and Bruce Woodley of the Seekers.

teens wanted to meet the Beatles, so they disguised themselves as a band
called 'the Circle', rented a limo (with decoy groupies) and talked the police
into giving them an escort into the stadium and dressing room. The Beatles
showed up and talked to them for a while and laughed when they told them how
they got there. The real Cyrkle eventually showed up, but the Circle got to
watch the concert for free from one of the baseball dugouts.

I go to ball games, the bleachers are fine
I follow Winchell and read every line
#T1) Ella Fitzgerald: "The Lady Is A Tramp" (1956) [-] {-} <->

JR: Rodgers and Hart wrote this for their musical "Babes In Arms". Everyone
and his grandmother record it, but Ella's and Frank Sinatra's might be the
  most familiar.

QM: Apparently, Ella and Frank recorded their first versions of this song
three months apart in the same studio. They would both be linked to this song
for many years afterwards, sometimes doing it as a duet. These lyrics only
  appear in Ella's version.

Adieu, Francoise, it's hard to die

then the Kingston Trio, then Terry Jacks. Other groups did variations as
well. One of several songs the Kingston Trio recorded years before someone
else recorded it as a major hit. These included Sloop John B. (1958) recorded
as John B. Sails, It Was A Very Good Year (1961), First Time Ever I Saw Your
Face (1962), Get Together (1964) recorded as Let's Get Together.
