I've been working on this quiz on and off for a few months. Apparently, I've waited too long to post it because 2 of my lyrics I had planned to used have been recently used by David Griboff and Tom O'Connor. So, before more of these are taken I figured I'd better get this one out. I have more than enough for another quiz, so I should have more quizzes (unless something gets in the way). Rules for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz: (some of these rules have been plagiarized from David Griboff and Valentino Herrera) 1) The songs are listed by alphabetical order of the artists. Therefore, if a song has been done by more than one artist, the correct response should be the one that fits alphabetically. 2) Artists MAY be repeated from other people's quizzes and from one of my quizzes to another. I will not use an artist more than once in any given quiz. 3) Songs may be repeated from other people's quizzes, but the lyrics will be different (unless I error or overlap another quiz in time). 4) Songs will most likely be from the 50's and 60's only. For this quiz, the range is 1954 - 1967. 5) Songs will be singles in the Top 100. For this quiz, all are in the Top 10, except for one that only reached #44. 6) Each Title is worth 1 point; each Artist is worth 1 point. You should try to get as close as possible to the way it appears on the label; partial credit will be given for imperfect answers. [I originally liked Tom O'Connor's scoring system of dividing 50 by the number of people who got an answer right, but there is a major flaw in that system: you don't get penalized very much for missing an easy question. It's like a shortstop who makes great plays but misses the routine ones] A perfect score would be 50 points. 7) Append your answers to the lines that begin "#dd)", where "dd" are two digits. You may delete the original lyrics or not; I will look for lines beginning with those 4 characters (possibly preceded by ">" and/or " "). DEADLINE is Monday, September 17, 1990 Try to mail early since mail sometimes takes a while to get here.
