Welcome Oldies Fans to edition #46 of the GOLQ series! I hope you'll
find this quiz easier than the last few GOLQs.

There have been no changes to the general rules.

After the 25 regular songs, there are 2 tie-breakers. These 2 songs
will not be in the alphabetical mix with the other 25, but will be
alphabetized with respect to one another. What these versions have
in common is that they were released between 1955 and 1969 but failed
to reach the Top 100 on the Pop charts; covers may be involved.

Good luck!

    Barry

Answers must be received by 5PM EST on Monday, August 9, 1993. Try
to e-mail early since I don't know how long it takes to get here.

In my most secure moments
I still can't believe
I'm spending those moments with you
#01)

We found the perfect love
Yes a love that's yours and mine
I love you and you love me
All the time
#02)

Why must you hurt me
Do what you do
Listen here girl can't you see I love you
Make a little effort
Try to be true
#03)

I pretend that I'm happy (sha-la-lee)
But I'm Mister Blue (sha-la-loo)
I pretend that I'm happy (sha-la-lee)
Since I lost you
#04)

Don't you give me no dirty looks
Your father's hip
He knows what cooks
#05)

So listen, Mr. Dee Jay
Keep those records playing
'Cause I'm having such a good time
Dancing with my baby
#06)

Round and round and up and down we go (yeah oh baby)
Makin' with the shakin' to and fro (yeah)
(Well now from) Boston to LA
#07)

Used to slip through every girl's hands like water
Never was one who could ever tie me down
Straight ahead and steady as Gibraltar (yeah)
'Til you brought me tumbling to the ground
#08)

The minute you walk in the room
I break into a sweat
My hands begin to shake so bad
I can't light my cigarette
#09)

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
#10)

I went to Chinatown
Way back in old Hong Kong
To get some egg foo young
#11)

People around every corner
They seem to smile and say
We don't care what your name is boy
We'll never turn you away
#12)

Well if you get the thorough woman
There's only one thing that you can do
Just dig a hole and jump right in it
And pull the ground right over you
#13)

And when you're old and gray
You will remember what they said
That two girls are too many
Three's a crowd
And four yer dead!
#14)

Would a classy girl like you
Fall for a poor boy like me?
#15)

Oh, one day you're gonna discover
One little wrong leads to another
#16)

There's a girl I know
Who makes me feel so good
And I wouldn't live without her
Even if I could

You'll be mine in the morning
Oh and be mine again in the ni-ii-ight
We'll always, I mean always, be together
Because our love, yes our love will be right

When you stand
Hand-in-hand
With your lover
And thrill to the wonders of night

Just because he dance good

Convinced her that we oughtta get away from there
We took a little walk

Just anytime that someone speaks your name

But is her sweet expression
Worth more than my love and affection

General Rules for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quizzes:

(These rules have been crafted over time by the GOLQ Authors: Rick Schubert,
Barry Silk, Howard Teitelbaum, Ron Crandall, Carole Hanrahan, Jamie Lubin,
and Dan Murphy. They are based on earlier quiz rules by David Griboff and
  Valentino Herrera.)

1) PLEASE READ THESE RULES FIRST!!

2) The songs are listed in alphabetical order by artist - as it
actually appeared on the original 45 record. When I don't
have access to the original 45, my source is Joel Whitburn's
"Top Pop Singles 1955-1986" unless I have evidence indicating
that source is incorrect. Songs should be alphabetized
according to the following rules, unless I've made a mistake:

Names beginning with "Mc" are alphabetized as if they were spelled "Mac".
Names beginning with "St." are alphabetized as if they were spelled
   "Saint".

Artists' names that begin with a number will be alphabetized using
the word equivalent of the number.

If a song has been done by more than one artist, the correct
response will be the one that fits alphabetically. If you don't know which
one fits alphabetically because you have not identified adjoining songs,
you may include multiple artists in your entry, but you will only receive
credit if you include the one that fits alphabetically.

If a lead singer's name is used as part of the artist's name, the
   following alphabetization rules apply:
   - If the last name is used as in "Firstname Lastname & the Group"
it will be alphabetized under Lastname.
   - If the last name is used as in "the Group featuring Firstname Lastname"
it will be alphabetized under Group.
   - If the last name is not used as in "Firstname & the Group"
it will be alphabetized under Firstname.
   - If no last name is used, but a nickname is used before the
firstname as in "Nickname Firstname & the Group" is alphabetized
     under Nickname.

   For example:
   Artist Alphabetized by
"The Crickets featuring Buddy Holly" "Crickets"
"Buddy Holly & the Crickets" "Holly"
"Little Anthony & the Imperials" "Little"
   "Little Richard" "Little"
   "Little Peggy March" "March"
   "Martha & the Vandellas" "Martha"

3) Artists may be repeated from previous Golden Oldies quizzes. An
artist will not be used more than once in any given quiz.

4) Songs will not be repeated from previous Golden Oldies quizzes,
whether by the same artist or by a different artist. However, a
different song with the same title may be used.

5) Songs WILL BE from 1955-1969 only, of course!! Re 1955: a record
may have entered the charts in 1954 as long as it was still on the
charts in 1955. Re 1969: a record entering the charts in 1969 may
still be on the charts in 1970.

6) Songs are singles that hit the Top 100 on the American Pop Charts.
Although most songs will have made the top twenty-five or so,
expect a couple of songs in the quiz that will challenge the
   experts out there.

7) There are 25 songs to identify; each song is worth 20 points.
Each Title is worth 10 points; each Artist is worth 10 points.
A perfect score is 500 points.

You should try to get as close as possible to the way it appears
on the label; partial credit will be given for imperfect answers.

8) Append your answers to the lines that begin "#dd)", where "dd" are
two digits. You may delete the original lyrics or not; I will look
for lines beginning with those 4 characters (possibly preceded by
   ">" and/or " ").
