Due to the Christmas/New Year's holiday, the deadline for entries has been extended 2 days from the normal 3-week cycle. GOLQ152 will be posted on January 11. ** Entries must be received by 5:00 PM EST (GMT-5), Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000. ** E-mail (DO NOT POST) answers to: hat&gdats.com [replace '&' with '@'] If everyone's worst Y2K paranoid fantasies come to fruition, and civilization as we know it collapses on January 1, there may be a slight delay in your entry reaching me in my fortified bunker. (Plus, the deadline will inadvertently become "Jan. 6, 1900", thus making your entry a century too late.) So, as with all GOLQs, submitting your entry early is advised. I will send acknowledgment by e-mail as soon as possible after receiving your entry. If you don't get a response from me within 2-3 business days, you can call me at 973-463-4594 (M-F, 9 AM - 5 PM). However, please note that I will not be at work (thus, not processing entries) from Dec. 24 thru Jan. 2. If you do not have the official GOLQ Rules (a posted copy of the rules should follow a posted copy of this quiz on most sites), then you may read them at the following web address: http://world.com/~marc/golq There have been no recent changes to the rules. If you want GOLQs and their Results/Answers sent directly to you via e-mail, just send e-mail to golq-request@world.std.com consisting only of the word "subscribe" in the body, not the subject, of the message. Enjoy! -- Howard Teitelbaum hat&gdats.com [replace '&' with '@'] _______________________________________________________________________________ Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #151 (Songs #01 - #25 were from 1955 through 1968) Due 5:00 PM EST, Thursday, January 6, 2000 _______________________________________________________________________________ Everybody tells me I'm wrong To want you so badly (badly, badly, badly) But there's a voice a-drivin' me on I'd follow it gladly (gladly, gladly, gladly) #01) I really mean it When I tell you I'll be at your beck and call Tell me you want me And our love will conquer all #02) The other day I saw you as I walked along the road But when I saw him with you, I could feel my future fold It's so easy for a girl like you to lie Tell me why #03) Well, one day you're up, and the next day you're down You can't face the world with your head to the ground The grass is always greener on the other side, they say So don't worry, boy, life will be sweet someday #04) I'm gonna leave the city, got to get away I'm gonna leave the city, got to get away All this fussing and fighting, man, you know I sure can't stay #05) If you must go Oh, no, I won't grieve If you wait a lifetime Before you leave #06) Well, my pretty baby just a-left me this mornin' Said she didn't wanna see me no more Told me not to call her on the telephone And never come a-knockin' on her door Well, I fumed and I fussed and I mighta cried a little My head went a-spinnin' around #07) Whisper to her, Mr. Wind Sing to her, Mr. Robin And Mrs. Moonlight, put in a word for me #08) Go get your partner Get in line We're gonna have ourselves a heck of a time #09) Fourteen days Fourteen fights Fourteen lefts and fourteen rights And I'm rockin' Rockin' on down the line #10) Each night I kneel And say a prayer Hoping when I wake You'll still be there #11) And now that I've grown up And the woman I love, she has gone Now that I'm a man, I think I understand Sometimes everyone sings this song #12) Hey there, friend You say your radiators didn't work all winter And now that it's summer, they started up again And you can't turn them off #13) I joke around at a party when you are there But you don't laugh, you don't look You just don't care #14) Why did you leave me, darling, oh so soon?
