GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #245 (GOLQ245)

Welcome to GOLQ 245. I consider this to not be a difficult quiz. In fact, I
think that some of the included lyrics are among the most recognizable of
all time. There is a theme to this quiz, and once you figure out the theme,
it may help you determine the songs you have not yet identified. So, if you
have not participated in a GOLQ in a while, this may be the time for you to
jump back in. All recordings, including the tie-breakers, are from the
1955-1969 timespan.

Have fun!

Regina Litman <golq245@golq.org>

                       Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #245
               Recordings #01-25 were from 1955 through 1969
             Due 5:00 p.m. EDT (GMT-4), Saturday, June 30, 2007
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You ought to come and see
His pretty bar
And his brand new car
#01)

You say you fear I'll change my mind
I won't require you
#02)

Got a back beat you can't lose it
Any old time you use it
#03)

You walked out of my dreams
Into my arms
Now you're my angel divine
#04)

Here it is another weekend
I ain't got nobody
Man if I was back home
I'd be swinging two chicks on my arm
#05)

A pretty little raven at the bird bandstand
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
#06)

I've been cheated
Been mistreated
#07)

Built big houses by the score
Won't need teepees any more
Although they changed our ways of old
They'll never change our heart and souls
#08)

I don't want to lose this good thing
That I've got
If I do I will surely
Surely lose a lot
#09)

Oh yes I know that your lips are sweet
But our lips must never meet
I belong to somebody else
And I must be true
#10)

Don't stop cookin'
It feels so good yeah
Hey-eey but don't stop now
Hey come on
#11)

It's growing in the street
Right up through the concrete
#12)

You got to swing your hips now
Come on baby
Jump up jump back
Well I think you got the knack
#13)

Now you say you're sorry
For being so untrue
#14)

Please check and see
Just one more time for me
#15)

Any time you want to
You can turn me on to
Anything you want to
Any time at all
#16)

It's important to me
That you know you are free
Cause I never want to make you change for me
#17)

I don't believe you
You're not the truth
No one could look as good as you
#18)

Come with me
My love
To the sea
#19)

My love will be so sound
It'll take about a hundred lifetimes to live it down
Wear it down
Tear it down
#20)

Time, time, time
See what's become of me
While I looked around for my possibilities
I was so hard to please
#21)

Baby comin' now I'm hurryin' home
I know she's leavin' cause I'm takin' too long
#22)

Love is a losing game
And love can be a shame
#23)

I was born to love you
And I will never be free
You'll always be a part of me
#24)

Where oh where can my baby be?
#25)

------------
Tie-Breakers
------------

I felt the earth turn in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
#T1)

Everywhere I go you know
Bad luck follows me
Every time I fall in love
You know I'm left in misery
#T2)
